About Us
"Elohim" is a Voluntary Organisation founded in the year 2006 to meet the challenges posed by the nature in one of the largest district of Andhra Pradesh State. It is an organisation founded to facilitate the process of development of villages. In its endeavour Elohim has envisaged to promote responsible participation of people in their own development. To achieve this goal Elohim has adopted the strategy of consultation which has facilitated its operation in making people think of their problems to find solutions and if possible, alternative possibilities to realize its goals. The area of operation chosen is Nalgonda District, Andhra Pradesh which is under developed and severely under exposed to any sort of developmental inputs, either from Government or least from any nongovernmental sector. Mahabubnagar Districts being virgin for voluntary action till late seventies, has gradually become experimental ground for participatory and partnership approaches. There is gradual increase in the awareness of people about their role for their development. Though the presence of voluntary agencies created an impact in certain parts of the district, the mandal chosen by Elohim did not receive any active assistance from the voluntary sector. Elohim is a result of concrete discussions held by few like minx led people who felt the need to organize the communities in a partnership model.
Theme
Elohim is committed to help the disadvantaged communities for whom the development is far away. To be specific we help the communities to help themselves. Bringing the self-reliance among the individuals and making the community, as self-sufficiency is our theme. To achieve this we are committed to take a multidimensional development approach with inclusive policy. To reach our objectives we are strategically moving towards integrated, comprehensive and sustainable development models. Our basic theme is to promote the rural basic health, supplementary education, alternative livelihoods, chemical free farming, thrift movement and enterprises in rural areas. Asset based community driven development (ABCD+) is our marked approach. Significantly promoting indigenous knowledge and participation and inclusive approaches are our chosen values to take our theme further.
Our Policy
Our policy is to - provide leadership in the development of partnerships; and assist communities in developing and executing comprehensive, integrated and inclusive development plans. We recognized that one of the most effective methods for communities to improve their social and economic standard of living is to engage in the community development process, especially one built on a We of strategic planning. The leaders of under served and distressed communities frequently do not have the technical background necessary for guiding such growth and change efforts. In the absence of professional community development consultation or training for community leaders, financial assistance is many times not effective in building sustainable communities and lessening their dependence on public resources. Considering this fact we provide this professional consultation and training.
The community development process helps to build community capacity to address issues, to take advantage of opportunities, and to find common ground and to balance competing interests. We believe that it does not just happen – it requires a conscientious effort to do something or many things to improve the community. Furthermore, the process is an important as the result. In effect this is wealth building -- not only financial, but in broader ways -- as members of a community value more highly both themselves and their abilities to take control of their future.
